Well, its not Mayorga, but still a step up. Really you can't expect a huge big name fighter with this little time left. If Danny Perez is the best they could do than its a pretty decent fight. Still Perro wins this one by KO. With the way Angulo fights its going to be harder and harder to find good competition for this guy. In 2010 perhaps we'll see a long awaited Kirkland vs. Angulo match up - if they both keep undefeated.

I had a hunch, I dunno what it was, it wasn't inside information. I like this fight, this is still a war and Perez, when motivated is dangerous. He dropped Margarito on his butt a few years back.

I'm not sure HBO trusts him enough to allow that at this point.

This really isnt a bad fight considered how durable Perez is. Remember Gutierrez gave Angulo a good fight less than a year ago.

I agree. A fighter with only 14 fights doesn't need to be matched too tough that early in his career. The Mayorga fight was just a chance to get a name opponent on his way out on his record.

According to r!z and Darkstar, Mayorga is a perennial P4P star approaching his breakout fight.

well you can't blame them tho.
angulo has been training for mayorga. they dont want anymore late minute
                  suprises.
perez appears to be a safe stand up guy.

this isnt a bad replacement at all. the guys never been stopped and has been in there with Margarito. and has some pretty decent wins too.

I would have preferred Ouma or Mayorga to fight Angolu of course, but this is a nice replacement. they did good on such short notice.

This is a nice replacement. This guy looked pretty decent on the undercard of Marquez-Casamayor. He's a good fighter and a nice test.
