he is both. i am by far, not a hugger, but joe is an atg. how far up is debateable, but it an easily be argued that he is the king all time at 68. 46-0 can not be denied. he resume is not great, but far from bad. -

A lot would argue he's both.. I made a thread to see were people stood on this issue and over half had him in the top 100 ATG..Comment

Im not sure if many of us are in a position to judge his place in terms of top 100 leave something like that to someone who has been around a lot longer than me, but lets put it this way I would find it hard to believe there has been 100 fighters better than him, he had such a unique style. Definite ATG for me, probably in the top 5 british fighters of all-time, and up there with some of the great Italian fightersComment

He's THE best SMW ever, and that's what still 25 years. The best HW of the last 25 years would be well in there. Not saying SMW was as strong, but still puts into context how good he really was, how dominating.
To face a lot of top 10 division guys and nose lose once reigning champion for 21 fights like Hops did, then unify SMW, then go up and beat a high p4p top LHW in his backyard, is impressive.
He is definitely ATG 100. It seems over time people are more and more willing to accept that which is strange. It'll be some time before a vast majority accept he's top 100, let alone quite a bit higher like I'd probably have him. But it's very subjective and hard with so many fighters in there.
Nice fair article here; http://queensberry-rules.com/2009/02...omed-late.htmlComment
