This fight is awesome and I know all of us hardcore fans want to see it bad. However, I also think it gives us a good preview on 2 things.
1- The #1 reason I think Williams and his team took this fight is because it gives them a great baromoter to see what Williams is capable of. He's getting to fight a big name, who is a top fighter, will make some solid money, but most of all it allows him to test how good he is at MW without fighting a true pysical MW. I seriously beleive that after watching Pavlik fight guys like Hopkins & Taylor that Williams team thinks that they may can beat him at MW but there not a 100% sure. He can make huge money in those fights since none of the WW's want to fight him. The problem is that they dont want him to fight just a good or average MW because he may still lose to them because of the size advantage and then he would be dead in the water. By fighting Winky he gets the big name to where a loss cant totally kill him, he gets to test himself against a guy who would give any MW problems, and he also doesnt have to worry about fighthing a pure physicaly strong MW. If he wins this impressivley then I bet that his team would seriously consider fighting Pavlik, e****ally after seeing how Hopkins outboxed him so easily.
2- The 2nd thing that this fight will show us is a possible preview of the Mayweather-Pac fight. The biggest thing that people talk about with that fight is how much will the 2 year layoff affect Floyd. Winky will also have been off for nearly 2 years when he fights Williams so I think it could tell us alot about how good Floyd will be able to look when he comes back immediatly against a great fighter. Ofcourse it wont be fully the same but atleast it tells you something
