    Downward Spiral Starts Here

    Joe Calzaghe retiring and Hatton in his last year and B-Hop and RJJ on there las legs, i feel boxing is now on a downward spiral and will turn into the ****ty heavyweight division that ONLY now starting back up.

    nah man, I disagree.

    I'll start with Hopkins. Hopkins was never a huge draw anyways, so it's not like losing sugar ray leonard or ali. RJJ was finished like 5 years ago.

    As far as Calzaghe and Hatton, yeah maybe in the UK that's a big loss since there are no replacements to fill that void on the horizon. But who knows, david haye, amir khan, etc could become greats.

    Plus, all these guys that you mention, these are the superstars that only fight 1 to 2 times per year at most. They aren't what keeps the sport going year round. There are alot of great divisions (look at welterweight for example) that are constantly pumping out great fights and new stars will be born tomorrow. It just takes time.

    Quit worrying and try to follow the youth more closely, tons of talent & potential out there

      There are tons of talented European prospects that will take over boxing in the next few years.

          For example: Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko won the award for best p4p fighter at the olympics.....he is gonna be a future top p4p fighter

          Theres tons of boxing talent in Europe.

            Good comments guys, i agree with the majority of what has been said, just hope the standards of boxing in the coming years will be up to the standard in certain divisions now.
