I think the Welterweight division let him down. The guys were much heavier punchers and for obvious reasons, he developed a more defensive approach to boxing.
But keep in mind, the guys he fought were much heavier than him at Welter.
I dont really think Shamba Mitchell, Ricky Hatton, Carlos Baldomir, and Zab Judah were really bigger then him.
Floyd is not boring to watch, but he is tedious to watch.
On the whole Floyd is not boring, but just like Jones he is not a closer. I always think the mark of a great fighter is to close the show its really important to me, because it puts a stamp of dominance on your performance etc.
Just like Jones He can be very tedious to watch, because he plays it safe even when his opponent is virtually begging him to give him an excuse to quit.
Thats the difference between these guys and guys like Leonard etc. Leonard was a closer he stood and ****** it out with Kalule a natural 154lbs and Donny Lalonde the MUCH bigger man.
Before anyone starts yes i have seen Floyd's SFW days and he was a lot more exciting i agree.
I agree with you. He is boring to watch, but he's really precise when it comes to his strategy.
He only becomes exciting during the late rounds when he's worn his opponent out.
If you throw 20 punches in 1 round and 18 of them land plus you don't get hit, how can you argue with that?
yea 17 pounds isnt bigger..him and baldo weighted the same..and mitchell wasnt bigger those muscles were computer generated..floyds a clown
not sure what you're talking about. in all his welterweight fights he's never looked small. He's been taller or the same height as every fighter he's faced and has his opponents beat in reach. Baldomir 17 pounds heavier because of all that fat. But my no means has floyd ever looked small in any of his welterweight fights.
