Julio Cesar Chavez-John Duddy Eyed For The Summer?

According to promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank, if Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (38-0, 29KOs) defeats Carlos Nascimento on the March 28 Latin Fury pay-per-view from Tijuana, Mexico, and John Duddy (25-0, 17KOs) overcomes Matt Vanda on February 21 in New York’s Madison Square Garden - the two fighters could collide in the summer. I doubt it, but as much as I want to see mr Julio finally fight a name, this isn't even that close, but good enough..

I hope this fight happens once and for all. I wouldn't mind see it.

Duddy is the same sort of fighter JCC Jr. is right now. Undefeated, big draw, far from proven at the top level.
This is a step up and a step in the right direction for both if it happens.

You should throw in the Jr. in the title of the thread. I know it says it on the mainpage's titles and in the article..

anyway, John Duddy ain't the best or a stepping stone but this could be a good move. I don't see Duddy winning though

It is definitely a step up. JCC Jr has not fought anyone as good as John Duddy and vice versa. It isn't a step up to the top, but it is up from where they were.

Anyway, I love this fight for two reasons:
                  1) It could be a FOTY of the year candidate. Both are decent to really good offensive fighters with no defense. They have both, albeit against weak competition, have shown excellent chins. Duddy cuts, but I still think you're looking at a firefight that gets into the last third of the fight in a war of atrition. There is no way this is a bad fight.

                  2) We get rid of one of them! We know neither has looked impressive, so we can write off the loser and stop being updated about and discussing him on these forums. If Duddy wins, and I think he would, he'd be propelled into bigger fights and be wrecked in those and we'd be rid of both.

I've only seen JCC Jr once in his rematch against that guy?

He looks better than Duddy to me, so he does.
