Considering the direction of those boxers respective career's I think Ricky took the right fight.

I can understand Calzaghe not fighting froch, but hatton should have fought Witter.
Urango is a big puncher, witter is a puncher with better skills and would be a more credible win. Also Witter has been calling him out for like the last 10 years, including when ricky was wbu "world" champion.

Pfft Witter has put on 1 good performance in those ten years, the guy is bluntly rubbish.

The only thing anyone will ever remember him for is riding Hatton coat tales and winning a vacant title that he lost in his first remotely serious defence.

I think Floyd started it as a derogatory focus..."Vicky Fatton", "ah'ma punch him in his beer belly", etcetera. People commented on the weight before that, but I don't recall it being such a focus of derision.

Anyway...if it helps him feel closer to ol' Hands Of Stone, what's the harm?

Yah, the banter's been around a while...Hatton's fanbase and the tabs go hand in hand, so the joshing has its origins there.

Just the culture of using it as stick to beat him with, seems to be a more recent trend.
