UFC stealing Boxing announcers, Judges, Referees and Promoters.

Micheal Buffer, the most well known announcer in Boxing has already done a few UFC events. Imagine my surprise when I saw two famous referees judging the GSP vs Penn event.

These guys have been soley refereeing Boxing events for years and now they are judging UFC?

Is this a sign that UFC is becoming more accepted by Boxing people? De la Hoya co promoted the Fedor fight whats next? MMA events as undercards?

What most Boxing fans dont understand is that if MMA becomes so mainstream that males aged 10-25 have regular access to it Boxing will become a niche.

The Majority of this demograpghics sees Boxing as there fathers/grandfather's combat sport. This generation wants new and exciting twists on everything. Kids today dont care that it takes a Decade to become an elite boxer, they dont want to watch a beautiful 12 round display of sweet science.

What they want to see is nearly-bare fists slamming into unprotected faces, knees shattering bones, meatheads getting choked out. blood flying after every impact......they want to see violence.

Oh come on like boxing fan's don't want violence either. If your statment was true then Corey Spinks would be considered an exciting fighter.

Im not saying we dont want violence, what im saying is that is pretty much all they care about.

My friends seriously think in there delusional minds that Boxing is "soft" because they wear gloves.

If Boxers wore the MMA gloves not only would it result in way more 1st round KOs, but there would be hands breaking left right and center.

Although to tell you the truth I do wish Boxing gloves were slightly smaller.

Boxing have been around for a century+ now. Boxing wont die any time soon.

The majority of people see UFC as no better than WWE. Most people see boxing as a real sport, and young kids dont consider this a grampas sport like you said.

The notion that the younger demographic will consider Boxing as "the grandpa sport" is quite laughable. I'm not saying that it isn't possible, but the younger demographic is the most fickle one. They are the likeliest to follow trends.

The younger demographic are the ones that GROW OUT of trends so as they are heavily involved with a trend as a young adult, as they grow older, their taste grow older.

Yes but by being exposed to it as children they will have at least a passing interest in MMA througout there lives.

Out of the 5 people I know that like MMA 4 of them dont watch boxing because they see it as incomplete.

I would guess this applies to most other people aswell.

This thread is pointless and has no fact checking. The refs and judges are NOT appointed by the UFC. They are appointed officials by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The UFC has NO say in the refs [other than UFC trained refs] or judges.

Michael Buffer covers events when his brother, and partner of their company, Bruce Buffer, is not able to cover a show. The same goes the other way. When Michael was battling throat cancer, Bruce filled in and did announcing on a few boxing events - including an HBO card.
