Sorry but I do not think Tarver beats Kessler, Taylor, or Bute. The others are debatable but he'd probably pick up another loss between Froch and Green too. I don't think that's too harsh, but I do think your being optimistic on Tarver.

The SMW and LHW divisions are actually both reasonably, relatively evenly stacked. Not deep, but both have there share of a few real top guys, a few medioka's, and some average lower guys.
Well we agree to disagree then. Personally, I'd put my money on Tarver over nearly everyone at 168.

Dawson HIMSELF said that he only wanted fights at 175 - no catchweight, no 168. I have never seen Gary Shaw say that - not saying he didnt, feel free to show me. Im just telling you what Dawson HIMSELF said.
I cited International Boxing Digest, January issue. Not to mention articles on this site discussing it. Feel free to provide your sources as well.

Now having apparently changed his tune, hes calling out Paul Williams at 168.......making no mention of Kessler. So clearly, hes desperate to fight him LOL
Yeah, it is funny. Almost as funny as him calling out Joe Calzaghe.

Proof? Again, not denying it but since you are so desperate for proof when the coin is flipped, Id also like to see some.
      Uh-huh.

Either way, Kessler didnt want to fight at 175. Dawson DIDNT WANT TO fight at 168 NOR a catchweight. His words, not mine.
In other words, Kessler could have conceivably fought him and vice-versa. Well at least we know that Kessler did indeed have options. He JUST DIDN'T WANT TO.
Again, an alarming lack of proof that Kessler turned down Johnson. When its Dawson turning down Kessler, you turn into Sherlock Holmes but when its Kessler apparently turning down anyone, its immediately accepted as fact.
The fight was reported on this site, Dirk. No need to play Sherlock Holmes. Johnson offered him a catchweight fight. Further, whether I think Kessler would go up or Dawson would go down, we all agree Kessler had a chance to fight Dawson for his title.

Hence, Kessler DID have other options.

Chad Dawson after the first Tarver fight.

        About 3.24 in.

Dawson after a potential fight with Kessler fell through due to weight issues:

"168 may be my best weight"

I would seriously like to see your scorecard...I have many documented and I can pull you any fight televised through the last 4 years if you want to see my work...I have also judged a few PA amateur fights already, so get your facts straight before you start talking about abilities to score fights...Start a pole thread on here and see how many more people score the fight for Johnson over Dawson!

I wanted Dawson to win this fight! I told you I was a huge Dawson fan before this fight, but the way he turned down a rematch to a very old man (in boxing years) while he was still in the ring for the post fight interview while being Boo'ed the whole time was a slap in the face! That's just the way I see it and basically 80% of the boxing world!

Don't get it twisted Calzaghe fans. It was Kessler's Management that rejected a clash with Dawson as reported by Bigpoppapump. And it's Kesser who is in battle with them because they wont get him the fight he wants.

PW also can punch too, and dawson has a suspect chin.......

it'd be a great fight, i just like both fighters, so i'd rather see them beat up on other fighters
I'm not underestimating him but I am looking past all of the hype and hoopla. Just like most people here thought Margarito was going to run over Mosley but I knew better. I tend to look at fighters strictly for what they offer not for the hype they bring.

I also like both fighters as well but if the two ever met in the ring in the next two years I would expect nothing less than Dawson to walk right thru Williams. Sorry but in my humble opinion I don't even see this fight being very competitive.

Great future fight but if/when it goes down I'm giving the nod to Chad Dawson. Chad is too comfortable in the higher weight classes. I think Dawson would be too tough & skilled for Williams overall but both are young & could be a great competitive match up! Williams should focus on the higher weights anyway because NO title holder at Welter is going to give him a shot at this point. Mosley Sr already said that Williams is too big for Shane & should be fighting at higher weight classes.

KESSLER called out dawson........that's my point.

dawson has just beaten the #4 and #5 LHW's, and he wants #'s 1 & 2. he actually wants to prove he's the best at 175.

the only TOP 5 fighter kessler has ever faced was calzaghe, and he lost!!!

so what makes him think he can call out dawson, AND expect him to move down in weight to fight him, when dawson clearly has goals of reigning supreme at 175?

bottom line is, he told kessler to come up to 175, cuz that's where he's campaigning at, and if kessler was so serious about making the fight, he could've easily moved up, considering he CALLED out dawson......

like i said before, it's easy to call someone out, when you know they have NOTHING to gain by fighting you, so they probably won't........

                      i agree.

i'd give it up, if you explained.....PW hasn't been hurt, has a great chin, can punch also, and certainly is not slow........

so what makes you think dawson will "walk right thru him?"

                      because he's bigger?

cosign. but the fight is far ways off......

we have to see how williams deals w/ legit MW first, before we even talk about him fighting a SMW, let alone a LHW.
