Marco Antonio Barrera-Amir Khan To Still Go Forward

Despite suffering a bad cut in Saturday night's bout against Freudis Rojas in Jalisco, Mexico, former three-division champion Marco Antonio Barrera plans to move forward with his bout against Amir Khan on March 14 at the MEN Arena in Manchester. Rojas, a late replacement with a record of 1-7, struck Barrera with a missile-like head shot that opened up a cut above Barrera's left eye in the third round. The ringside doctor felt the cut was too severe to allow the fight to continue and stopped the contest. The ref disqualified Rojas. [details]

Mate you are spot one with this. Even if Khan beats Barrera which I think he will despite the whole 'old' issue this will cloud the bout. People will say he beat an old injured Barrera

I have not seen the cut suffer by Barrera, but if the fight was stop it must be serious. Therefore I think that 6 weeks is not enough for healing and preparing for a showdown. Does Barrera needs the money so bad? I guess will find out.....

Presumably King has spoken to Barrera. But it is weird - I don't see how he can train properly in that timescale.

And regardless of what people will say, if Barrera is under-trained, it won't be a meaningful fight. That's not what boxing needs, and in terms of his boxing education, it's not even what Khan needs.
