Another Filipino Boxer KO'D in Japan

Filipino welterweight Mel****r Tata Regatuna has been knocked out in the very first round by hard-punching Japanese youngster Masato Arai in a fight card in Koga , Japan.

Well known Japanese matchmaker, boxing manager and journalist Joe Koizumi informed Viva Sports/Manila Standard that the up-and-coming Arai connected with a wicked southpaw uppercut on the chin of Ragatuna to score a quick stoppage. [details]

      because of manny
      duhhh
people assume they could have been the next filipino sensation to come out og the philipines
but unfortuantly manny seems to be a one in million type of guy comin out of the philipines, or anywhere for that matter
they want to try to establish the philipines as a place where good fighters come out of
which just isnt the case yet

It's sad really, the boxing program in the Phil. isn't spectacular. A lot of filipino fighters are fed to other Asian countries (mostly Thailand) to be knocked out. These are mismatches from the get go. Looking for that oppurtunity to get a break or become over night success'. Also there a lots of politics involved.

True. I hate to say this but the status quo of Phil. boxing sucks big time. We've had enough of Filipino patsies being sent here in BKK to put up token resistance only, then take the money and run back home. I bet this guy who lost in Japan is one of those, walking punching bags, i must say. The sad part is, their loss is being headlined. What for? These guys have more losses than wins on their fight records, these are not prospects in the boxing world, they're just like any other worker trying to make a living. We don't need this kind of news...and they need a bit of respect too, so just cut it.

It's ironic that the author who reported this sensational loss is Ronnie Nathanielsz - a Filipino(?). Why bring such humiliating losses to the attention of the whole world?

I think Ronnie wants the Boxing world to be aware of the corruption that is going on with matching Filipino boxers against fighters who are out of their league. Like another poster stated before, Filipino promoters are feeding young guys with little experience to the wolves in order to make a quick buck.

Thanks Mr. Reeno for clearing that out, hope that the boxing world notices and do something about it, we have a lot of boxers in the Philippines with potential to be somebody but all these crap is making it impossible for the potential to be tapped, only a gifted few and some lucky guys make into a championship fight....

This news is not new anymore, these boxers were sold like **********s and who would complain, they are paid and they don't have a choice because being poor, they have to make ends meet! At least they say, they don't harm anyone, they just want to earn a living!
