I like MMA, but boxing has and always will be first for me. It is just better to watch. I'm not a big fan of the Brazilian fighting where the fighters just grapple and try to submit, usually a fighter who isn't trained to defend against those subs. That's frustrating when a good fight suddenly ends from a sub, IMO.
If these are the best EVER boxing has NOTHING to worry about....

I hold hope that boxing can stay relevant, personally I cant get into MMA but I see it gaining momentum with youth. Maybe this is just my experience, but you see all the people who came out to the Staples Center last weekend so you have to figure that boxing is big in L.A. but I seldom meet a pure Boxing fan, people usually want to talk MMA. Not to mention how many MMA gyms have seemingly sprung up over night.
To summarize I don't know if the masses can truly appreciate 12 rounds of what can sometimes be perceived as a chess match the same way that most on this forum can appreciate a good fight.
-On a more positive note though, 2009 looks like a good year to be a boxing fan, from the first installment of shobox to what transpired last weekend we have a good start to this point.Comment

Another thing I find hilarious is how they exaggerate fighters abilities.
This guy is an incredible striker, he is world class at jiu jitsu, hes a world class wrestler etc. When in reality they are none of the above.
I mean they said Patrick Cote was a great boxer and yet hes 0-4 in pro boxing. And he fought Anderson Silva.... for a TITLE.Comment

I just think that boxers face a higher class of opposition, from the moment they start in
the amateurs. When you look at any pro boxer in the top tier of the game, IMO there really is no reason to even compare the elite of boxing to any class of MMA fighter.
That being said I still have a world of respect for anyone willing to fight competitively no matter what the discipline, Boxing just happens to be the form that I can appreciate the most.Comment
