Alot of people had Margarito on their top 10 ten list and had him in there for more than having a good chin... Mayorga is a fighter who has been lambasted for throwing wide punches and not having any real boxing skills. A wild puncher with a solid chin.. Now both faced the same fighter with one doing better than the other.. I just want to know if most people are seeing what I saw in Margarito, which is an overrated talent with a granite beard. I think even Baldomir woulda done a better job.Last edited by Alibata; 01-30-2009, 05:51 PM.Comment

Obviously Mayorga. Mayorga actually won a couple of rounds and fought pretty good. I see why someone would want to kick Margarito while he is already down (I guess people are really upset). It was crazy how after the Cotto fight Margarito was being considered as "one of the best" ..I think and thought not. He is a good fighter with a great chin...for this he never deserved all the credit he got. A fighter should not move up in rankings based on his chin. Now this and people are really wondering where his place is, understandably.

Mayorga looked better against Mosley than Margarito but that doesn't necessarily mean he would've beaten Margarito.
Mayorga is significantly slower, sloppier and easier to hit than Mosley although his superior strength would be a factor. He outweighs Margarito by 10+ lbs and Margarito is not used to fighting bigger, stronger opponents. Mayorga does tend to run out of stamina though.
There wouldn't be much technique involved, so I won't get into that. The fighter with the better physical attributes would win.
I can't give an answer right now because there are just too many questions about both, especially Margarito. It could turn out that all of Margarito's punching power and previous victories have been gained by means of cheating... In that case I would have to seriously re-evaluate just how good he actually is.Last edited by TheGreatA; 01-30-2009, 06:11 PM.Comment
