It's better off without him if he ain't gonna fight to prove himself as opposed to just for $, which he has claimed he don't need. He can draw big $ for his fights so obviously he can be good for boxing, but it ain't like the sport will go belly up without him around.
As much as I respect what Mayweather achieved in the sport and his Boxing skills/popularity... I think it is a little bit unfair him making the cover of this month. I think Mosley deserved it more due to his classy performance against Margarito, nothing against Floyd but I think Mosley deserves his props this time.
As for the question "Can the Boxing world keep moving without Floyd?" Yes, I believe it can... Mayweather is a great fighter, with tremendous skills and has achieved a lot. However just because he retired it doesn't make it the end of Boxing... there will be more and more talent coming through. The Boxing world was still extremely popular after Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Leonard, etc. retired.
