    Cruiserweight

What are peoples thoughts on the cruiserweight division?

I’ve never liked it’s rep of being the ‘stepping stone’ to heavyweight. It’s a division with a 25lb leverage, it’s got so much potential, the weight allows for real power and speed, two things we ALL love about boxing.

I think some fighters, a bit like Enzo, should be stand alone CW boxers. Ok, the money’s at Heavy, but if a few more descent fighters stuck to their guns between 175-200lb then i really think the division could be really exciting.

Cruiserweight is a division which is usually fragmented, and when a fighter does climb to the top and establishes dominance, quickly vacates. As has been noted, a lot of the most athletic people in general tend to fall into that weight range, and boxing could benefit by its profile being raised.

To me it has provided more entertainment recently than the heavyweight division has for years so I'm fine with it.

I don't support having all the weight divisions that we do today but if I were to cut the number of divisions in boxing, CW wouldn't be among the worst ones right now.

Cruiserweight and heavyweight are currently fighting over which is the most boring division.

As a matter of fact I did, some good matchups won't save an entire division. Some of the champions are currently scheluded for interesting fights, but can you really say that the division is thatsolid? I will give you that Jones and Haye's leftovers are decent fighters, but are they stars? They can make good fights, but the intrige found in other divisions is just missing.

I've been seeing some very entertaining fights in the cruiserweight division, such as Licina vs. Herrera on Saturday, and Alexeev vs. Ramirez on the 17th.

It's the natural weight of a lot of people. Some who should be at cruiserweight are fighting at heavyweight, such as Sultan Ibragimov, Chambers, Boytsov, etc.
