Arizona Commissioner, John Montano, To Pay WBO Over $200K

After twelve years of intense litigation, the World Boxing Organization has obtained a resounding judicial victory over co-defendants: former Regional Vice-President, John Montano (now State Athletic Commissioner of Arizona; former referee, Ismael “Wiso” Fernandez, and his wife, former WBO Executive, ******ia Pinto. Together they fraudulently schemed to illegally use the name and the initials of the WBO, and its regional organizations, in an attempt to divert funds in the amount of $92,000 (Ninety-Two Thousand Dollars).

I find it shameful and apalling that a pesron in Mr. Montano's position who should be a man of respect and a pillar of our latino community would be involved in such a scandal. He worked to make the sport of boxing better and safer for our young fathers, sons, brothers and husbands who aspired to be like the great champions we grew up to love and admire. He was actively involved in so many of the changes that have been made for the sport in Arizona to protect these young men. He was held in high regard by many involved in the sport of boxing and was considered a man of honor and wisdom. Now all of his accomplishments will be overshadowed by "Arizona Commissioner, John Montano, To Pay WBO Over $200K."
