As someone else made mention to before, the Athletic Commission and the Opponent's corner aren't OBLIGATED to see how the hands are being wrapped. It's only up to the opponent's corner if they'd prefer themselves or anyone from the commission to be present during the wrapping of the hands. It's not anything new in Boxing.I'm not fan of Margarito but this whole 'cheater' thing has gotten out of hand.
On the broadcast I noticed some things;
Lampley said "Margarito had to wrap his hands 3 times before they (commisioners I presume) were satisfied"
What, he's going to wrap his hands with banned materials 3 times in front of commisioners? Be real.
Also, hand wrapping is monitored carefully, it doesn't mean he was cheating for the Cotto fight. It was a massive fight, these things are scrutinised meticulously and he would have got caught then too had he cheated.
I dont buy into the notion he did it many times. The risks were too great and he would have got caught out many times.
But in this case, Nazeem chose to check his hand wraps and was able to catch on to the substance that was found and brought it top the attention of one of the officials.
I myself am trying to see how this could be a big misunderstanding, but the evidence is just too overwhelming unfortunately for Margarito. When news like this hits ESPN, NY Post, LA Times, etc...its not based on assumptions.Comment

Nothing to do with Cotto gassing out and being unable to weather the storm then eh?Hey, ur right Cotto was DOMINATING the early rounds of the fight and that's until the (PLASTER-LIKE SUBSTANCE) hardened and broke Cotto's face up.
That's all fine and dandy, cheating ***** gotta come to NY this time and were like elephants around here. We only moved forward and we NEVER FORGET.
He might have cheated but I'm not going to condeming and sending him to the gallows just yet.Last edited by Zaff101; 01-28-2009, 04:37 PM.Comment

I'm not even a fan of Margarito. Heck I wanted Mosley to win. Same with Cotto.
However, I am a realist and do not like to condemn people as guilty or not guilty until ALL the evidence is weighed up and presently fairly. Innocent before proven guilty as what I believe in.Comment

He is right..... How would he have did it 3 times in a row....... With them right there already telling him he had to re-wrap them.... I could see it the first time.... but 3 times?..... I dont know about that..........I'm not fan of Margarito but this whole 'cheater' thing has gotten out of hand.

ooo.
yeh man.
i know right? they got one hell of a business there. thing with la perla is, they all respect each other when it comes to dealing with ppl. its like weed brings everyone together lol. ppl from different backgrounds and social classes, all together in "la plazita" smoking and having a good time. also, they got one hell of a business going on so if they start ****ing ppl up their business goes down, word spreads. cuz most ppl wouldn't believe all the kinds of peepz who go down there (to one of the most dangerous places in pr), from doctors/lawyers to students etc etc. however once u step in u get to see a more traditional cultural look of puerto rico.Comment
