    Main Events: "Gatti-Tszyu, Not in Our Lifetime"

    The Australian press is going berserk over comments made by Main Events with respect to a possible meeting between Arturo Gatti and Kostya Tszyu in a recent interview conducted by Los Angeles press writer Peter Mitchell. Main Events are the promoters of Arturo Gatti.

    When posed the question regarding the chances of Tszyu-Gatti coming off, Main Events' Chief Executive Officer Kathy Duva stated;

    "Not in my lifetime"

    When she was asked about Gatti accepting the recent challenge by Tszyu, she simply replied;

    "No"

    Main Events claims that the key issue in making this fight happen is the same key issue I told everyone about two days ago, exclusive network contracts.

    "Gatti has a contract with HBO and Kostya has a contract with Showtime, seeing how Gatti is the poster boy for HBO I can't see how that fight could ever happen." said Duva

    Carl Moretti, who is the matchmaker for Main Events, basically had the same view point as Kathy Duva.

    "How could he fight Kostya if he has a deal with HBO and Kostya has a deal with Showtime?" said Moretti

    Main Events was involved the last time Showtime and HBO had their contracted fighters face each other, back in 2002 when Lennox Lewis (under contract with HBO) fought Mike Tyson (under contract with Showtime). Main Events were the American promoters of Lennox Lewis and said that the experience was so "painful", that they will never involve themselves in a network collaboration again. Keep in mind that Tyson-Lewis is the highest grossing pay per view event of all time. [details]

    I hate how all these contracts/promoters/networks/managers control Boxing. All we want to see if a fight, and we gotta go through so much shyt to c it.
    All these promoters/networks have turned boxing into a joke.

      Geez, what a surprise, Gatti will not be fighting Tszyu. I wouldn't want my money-making bum to get scattered in pieces while he lays in his own pool of blood either and miss out on more million dollar fights. This is why boxing f**king sucks. Does anybody know any other individual professional sport where their top athletes get to have 50 million f**king reasons why it's okay not to face their rivals. Imagine Tiger Woods never ever having to face the likes of V.J. Singh and so on because of this b*ll**** or the Williams sisters never facing Davenport, the Russians, Capriati and so on... I'm starting to like the whole idea of McCain running boxing(puke)

        man I was really looking forward to seeing that fight, contract deals of rival networks only hurt the natural evolution of boxing. It's not a game of who is the best but who knows who, it's all about politics rather then skill.

          STRAIGHT UP! Boxing is the red light district of the sports world. I'm tellin' ya man, all the boxing fans should just boycott boxing for a whole 5yrs. and let's see if these f**king piece of **** cable networks and promoters develop ulcers and **** wounds from stressing the f**k out with all their business going down the drain.

              Gatti would get a beating from Kostya. His punch me and I'll punch you back harder aproach would be disasterous against a fighter the caliber of Tszyu.
