So SSM showed us what happens when an immoveable object meets an unstoppable force and B-Hop gave Pavlik a quick history lesson (age doesn't guarantee you passage to the throne). But what about RJJ and DLH?? How did SSM and BH put the sand of time back in the bottle and RJJ and DLH looked like two old men getting jumped in an alley? SSM looked brutal against AM who was deemed by many as the next great Mexican Hope. He looked so good in fact that his bandwagoner fans abandoned the Margarito express faster then they boarded. A shame really since there is still much fight left in the Tiujanan native even if his once luminous shadow is now full of holes not to mention the su****ious hand wraps situation doesn't help. But back to the thread topic, what did SSM and BH do that RJJ and DHL didn't? something that come to mind is mental conditioning. IMO RJJ has always relied on his God given talents more then his actual training to beat his foes. we watched him dance with his hands behind his back, and tap dance around people till they were dazed and confused. But recently Superman has gotten a few tastes of Kryptonite in the ring and his dancing shoes seem to have gum on the bottom of them. With his last several fights RJJ's body has been through some of the most demanding circumstances any human can withstand, and he did it without any problems...or DID he?? lately people seem to still be blaming his weight draining and constant flux of weight in his career to be the reason he is deteriorating...is this true?? or is his heart out of the game. According to B-HOP age doesn't mean anything. OR, is the difference between SSM,DLH,RJJ,and BH their choice in opponents? compare pavlik to pacman and margarito with calzaghe....were these fights mismatched to begin with we just failed to realize it? DLH was supposed to out do his man by a landslide according to some experts. I felt that it would be a classic bloodbath with the wills of to courageous fighters putting their advisary to the ultimate test..instead we watched DLH feebly attempt to duck and dodge the manny hurricane..what was it??? is it just time for the changing of the guards, or is there something else..a athletic aspect maybe, or lack or commitment to the sport...what do you think??

heh i made a similar-ish thread and recived 0 replies also
I think Calzaghe vs Roy Jones is a slightly different kettle of fish as Calzaghe is another oldie, just one who's aged better
I think a disproportionate amount of older greats are maintaining elite level and it's lead me to the conclusion that our current generation is the 'bust' after the 'boom' of the 90'sComment
