It really was a close fight and Berto probably pulled it out with his big 12th round. Collazo really just came up just short, which happens a lot with him. He is always right there but fails to go that extra mile to get over the hurdle.

But that one judge who had it 116-111 was way off on that tally.

actually I've heard a lot of people saying Berto won. I scored it 6 rounds each with the point deduction being the difference but a title will not change hands by ref. Especially when Berto won more later rounds and landed harder shots. Collazo bagged alot of early rounds but then took some off and faded.

right. and people forget judges only get to see one angle of the action, as opposed to us who see multiple angles and view points, as well as instant replay/slow motion.

still, no excuse for 116-111. as i said, i understand why collazo is frustrated with the loss regardless of how close the fight was.

if it was a robbery than why did he take the middle rounds off and lose the 11th and 12th? he looked like he was about to go down in the 12th and the slip couldve easily been a knockdown...

it was a VERY close fight. he took rounds off and gassed at the end = champion retains title. he shoe shined and patty caked and bertos sharper punches were counted over his amateur slaps. great fight but lets cut the robbery **** already.

              hatton he has an argument...

BTW, Berto won the fight down the stretch. I had Berto winning 8 rounds to 4.
8 to 4!!! you should be banned from boxing along with that ****ing blind judge that had it 116-111
also how in the hell is that possible with berto having one point taken off for holding?

P.R. guru Ed Rosa recently spoke with Luis Collazo to gauge his thoughts. Directly from the mouth of Mr. Collazo comes this big statement which openly ponders an even bigger question........A question that only Andre Berto and Mr. Lou DiBella can answer.....

Luis Collazo (thoughts in the aftermath of the controversial decision):

It's been Déjà vu all over again, just like the Ricky Hatton fight. I was brought in as an opponent to face Andre Berto on HBO, I fought my heart out and I did enough to win the fight, but once again, the judges took the victory away from me. I never thought in my wildest dreams that this injustice would happen to me again, but unfortunately, I got three more blind mice to judge my fight.

It's always an honor to fight on HBO, but, for the second time, I was robbed against one of their own fighters. Everyone knows I beat Andre Berto. His promoter, Lou DiBella, knows it. Even HBO’s Harold Letterman and Max Kellerman said, on air, that I truly won the fight. I threw almost one hundred and fifty more punches than he did. I rocked him several times and tore him up with body shots throughout the fight. At the end of the day, however, it's all just politics. They know that if I had the chance to fight him again, I would erase that zero he has in his loss column. They just don’t want their young golden ticket to go down.

All I want is a fair chance. I would love to fight Andre Berto again. The public needs to demand that it happen again. This first fight was the “Fight of the Year”, and I can guarantee it'll be even better a second time around. I promise I won't leave it up to the judges to decide who the winner will be again. I might not have a world title around my waist right now, but I am the people’s champion. Everywhere I go they keep letting me know that. Everywhere I go! I beat Hatton, I beat Berto; Everyone knows I'm not scared to fight anyone. Margarito, Cotto, it doesn’t matter. I want to fight the best, but first, I'm looking forward to beating Berto again, preferably no later than June. If you’re listening out there Andre, and you're not scared, all you have to do is sign the contract. I’m not a hard person to find. I want a rematch and that's no secret! Now the world knows who's demanding the fight, so show everybody what you're made of. The ball's in your court!

                    Luis Collazo
I hope he does get his rematch. He's an entertaining young fighter. Everyone seems to agree that it could've gone either way. I hope it happens, if it doesn't there's always tons of other WWs out there. I would love to see either of these 2 fight Zab, I think that would make for a great fight.

Interested to hear how you guys scored round 1 of this fight, because i know Collazo hurt Berto or caught him off balance which ever way you wanna look at it, but Berto probably did more work in the round from what i remember. I mean he started the round stronger and finished the round stronger after that incident.

                      From what i remember anyway.
