Is it a given Cotto wins the rematch with Margarito?

I'm seeing people bank on it. Not sure if it's a lock. Now certainly if Marg cheated in their fight Cotto should look stronger possibly down the stretch. However, will Cotto stop from getting hit so much? Will he still let the pressure get to him? And I think you will see a very determined Margarito. He has a lot of pride and he just got knocked out. Don't you think he'll come with some serious fire to win?

The thing with Margarito is his gameplan is always the same, Cotto has a blueprint to beating him now. I watched the Cotto-Margarito fight and the Mosley-Margarito fight yesterday and the contrast in gameplans is very visible. You see an unintimidated, smart veteran boxer in Mosley who was frustrating Margarito while Cotto would feel the urge to land a big combination in return every time Margarito landed, but afterwards simply ran. If Cotto is able to take Margarito's confidence, which will be much easier now, then he should win. He should decisively win the first six rounds by landing more to the body and get a little more physical with Tony

I don't think its a lock. But Cotto already knew what he had to do to win BEFORE he saw the Mosley fight. Now its even more obvious. Cotto is going in there to avenge his loss. His legs will be great as he said he's gonna work on them, he's gonna have a great gameplan and Margarito will have the same "come forward, blocking with my chin" style which has worked really well for him up until now. I also think there are 2 huge factors that MAY or MAY NOT come into play in the rematch.

      1. Margarito has taken a LOT of damage from a whole host of different fighters throughout his career, especially from Cotto and Mosley who have landed some of the biggest shots flush on his chin. The damage might finally be catching up with him. The way he was really hurt and knocked out against Mosely was devastating. You know his brain was rocked a lot for that to happen. It seems like that might be the case, and if so he can be more prone to being knocked out in the future.

      2. If he was, infact, wrapping his hands illegally then its over. He won't inflict as much damage on Cotto over course of the fight and he won't cut his whole face up like last time. That's a big IF, though. We'll see how it plays out, and if he is actually guilty of it, we may not even see a rematch!

        Great post NY!

Also lets remember Cotto had a bust nose from the 2nd round, that was a factor too he would have went 12 if that hadnt happened and whats the likelyhood of that happening again or at least so quick?

I certainly don't think its a given and I would have to say that Margarito would have to be the favorite going into a rematch with Cotto...Lets face it, Margarito has at least one big advantage and thats the fact that he has already knocked Cotto out once before...Although Margarito has just suffered the same fate it wasn't Cotto who did the deed...

Cotto wins big... now tony has the thought of his broken chin, plastered hands, and a pissed off Cotto who has the blueprint and the tools to deal with him all drifting in the back of his head when he goes into this fight. A fighter can only take so much, with his first match with Cotto and fight with Mosley, how much more can tony really take? I think Cotto KO's him this time around..... THE TIME IS NOW, BELIEVE........

If Cotto doesn't tie Tony up on the inside like Shane did he's gonna lose again.
