1- Some say they think what happened before the fight really bothered Margarito but if they did then to me that means its only because he really cheated. If he didnt cheat then I dont think that would affect a fighter and it probably would make him fight even harder to prove that the gloves make no differnce.
2- I did think that Margarito's body looked a little different and more gaunt in this fight but to me thats like my 1st thought in that its a lose lose situation for Margarito because if it is true that he looked gaunt then the proves what people were saying all along that he's killing himself to make weight so he can beat up on smaller guys.
3- One shocking thing to me in that fight which was awesome to see is that Mosley tried and succeeded in being the stronger fighter. I think that was a little mental game plan that Mosley had thats actually a big deal. Margarito prides himself on being this big strong monster but in every clinch Mosley made sure to be the one to push Margarito back and push him around the ring. I thought that was a little mind trick.
4- The craziest thing in that fight and something I thought I probably would never see in a Margarito fight at WW is that he actually almost started to run. He wasnt flat out running but he prides himself on coming forward and in the 6th round you could see him starting to go backwards while Mosley was stalking him. Even Merchant made the comment that "Margarito is now starting to retreat". That was crazy to see and even more crazier was that the fight hadnt even reached the halfway point. You never thought you would see something like that but if you did then it would have to be after round 10. Shane was doing this in round 6.
5- Mosley is my "favorite looking puncher" of all time. Im talking about just the way he explodes with a punch. I cant think of anyone in history who I would rather see throw a power punch. You can tell he puts hit all into every shot and he digs with it while using great speed. He's also my favorite looking stalker of all time. When he starts getting momentum and gets you on your heals. Then he's like slowly sliding forward with his left hand out as a guide and his right hand ****ed back. Thats so exciting to watch.
6- This is one of the All Time great divisions in boxing with a ton of great fighters and everyone beating eachother. Even like the 9th & 10 place fighters are studs who could give anyone hell and would easily be top 3 in basically every other divison. The great thing about whats happening is you know guys get into positions where there all about business and looking for the big money fights or whatever but when you lose then thats when you have to take a regular fight to get back to the top so you know guys will soon have to fight guys like Clottey, Williams, Collazo, and so fourth. Cant wait.
7- Arum and alot of the media hyped up Margarito but after this brutal beating alot of them tried to downplay things. Arum basically just overlooked it and tried to talk about other things in the interviews I read. Other journalist who always hype Margarito made articles without once mentioning the hand wrap issues but in the same article keep calling him the ultimate warrior. Alot of them tried to say that this doesnt expose Margarito or means that he still isnt great but you know if this had happened to another guy like Floyd then they wouldve said "exposed" a million times.
8- Everyone mostly keeps talking about Cotto with the Margarito gloves and some talk about Clottey but what about Cintron? I think this may help him more then anyone. He's obviously got alot of flaws but I still think he's got George Foreman type power and if its true about Margarito's gloves then I think it helps Cintron a ton, e****ally if he can win his next big fight.
9- HBO should be ashamed of themselves with not having a Countdown for this fight. I can see not having a 24/7 but not even a Countdown? And you know it had more to do with Mosley then it did Margarito but how? I know they loved Margarito and thought he was a beast so how much less could they have thought about Shane who has had a stellar career? There is no way that there shouldnt have been a Countdown for this big time fight. They still packed the house with stars and the Mexicans, and they also got good coverage on ESPN, but having a Countdown couldve made this a huge fight and HBO dropped the ball on it.
10- I hate to rip Margarito because he is a warrior in the ring and I completely hope its not true about his gloves but the truth is that everytime they hype this guy up he has came back to Earth. They were hyping him back and then he lost to Santos. They overlooked that and he knocked out Cintron which started the hype big again but then he was getting totally schooled by Clottey in a way that no top guy should get schooled but still managed to win. Even after that they said he was the most dangerous guy around but Williams beat him in the very next fight. After that he KO's Cintron & Cotto which makes his legend grow to a crazy status. They said he was a monster but then Shane just totally destroyed him in a one sided butcher. Does this guy have 9 lives or what. I dont mind people still talking about him as the absolutely should but stop hyping this guy up like he's some special boxing genius when he's really not. Skill wise he's not even close
