Another of Margarito's excuses

Margarito can give all the excuses he wants for why he lost so badly, but the bottom line is that he had plenty of time to prepare for this fight. Any boxer at that level knows that they can't afford to gain too much weight between fights. Plus since he was caught using plaster with his wraps totally discredits any wins he's had before as far as I'm concerned.

I used to be a fan of his, but now that I know he tried to cheat how can I have any respect for him? Think about how badly Cotto got cut. What if he used plaster with his wraps for that fight?? We'll never know.. Mosley has always been one of my all-time favorites.. I'm happy that he won, but now I'm even more glad of the beating and humiliation Margarito got.. He deserved it..

I hate fighting southpaws, cuz my feet get tangled up w/ their feet. I tried fighting southpaw once but its not pretty.

ANTONIO MARGARITO tuvo que bajar 35 libras en seis semanas para su combate ante Shane Mosley y ese sacrificio físico, según su comanejador Francisco Espinosa, le pasó factura la noche del sábado.

Espinoza aseguró que Margarito no estaba en su mejor condición frente a Mosley, pero al mismo tiempo, no le restó méritos a la victoria del estadounidense.

“Margarito no estaba ahí anoche (sábado). Todo el que conoce a Tony sabe que siempre va bien preparado y ayer (sábado) lo vimos muy débil”, indicó Espinosa al conversar telefónicamente con PRIMERA HORA desde California.

“No hay que quitarle el crédito a Mosley. Hizo una buena pelea. Mantuvo un doble jab con buenas derechas que entraron en todo momento, pero de verdad que Margarito no era el mismo. Aceptamos nuestros errores y seguimos adelante”, subrayó.

Espinosa confirmó que la esquina quería detener el encuentro luego del octavo asalto, pero el propio Margarito pidió que no lo hicieran.

“Luego del encuentro, fuimos al hospital para una evaluación rutinaria y gracias a Dios, salió bien. Esperamos recuperarnos de esta derrota y pasar la página”, sentenció.


co manager said that margarito had to lose 35 pounds in 6 weeks. i guess the 6 months laid off was bad for him. cotto had the same lay off and he was 170 when he came to camp so margarito was well over 180 pounds when he went to camp.

his punches did look about the same to me. After watching the fight vs mosley and vs cotto back to back he looked to be about the same size power and speed wise. Its just shane making him look like a club fighter. The jab confused or annoyed the **** out of marg and i know he didnt like being pushed around. He was used to being the bully but he never expected mosley to be as strong or fast as he was that night

Thats the thing I never cheered for Margarito because he was the best. I cheered for him because he's so flawed as a boxer and at the same time he's such a likeable guy. He beat some good welterweights that had twice the skill he did on sheer will and guts. How can anyone not like that?
