Margarito's cheating: What does it really mean?

On Saturday night I found myself rooting for Margarito to be completely knocked out for a number of reasons. For one, his fans have been some of the most ignorant and loud people on here. Second, Cotto is my favorite fighter and I wanted Margs to feel pain. And third, he's a cheating bastard. But today I ask myself, what does the cheating really mean?

Would Cotto have done better if Margs didn't have bricks in his gloves? Is Margs just a cheater who has always done this, or is it new? How many other fighters do this?

My personal opinion is that the Cotto fight would've gone about the same, but the question is, would Cotto have been brutalized the same way? I don't know.

Either way I was as happy with the result Saturday as any fight I can remember recently, and I hope Cotto destroys this fraud the second time around.

I think that MargaCheato wouldn't have beat Cotto by TKO in 11 if his gloves were not loaded. Cotto would've been fresher and able to move around more in the later rounds and, having a lead on the score cards, would've probably won a close decision like he did against Mosley.

As for where MargaCheato goes from here, he'll have to take an easy, confidence-builder fight because if he goes straight to Cotto next, after being brutalized and KO'd by Mosley, I think he gets KO'd again. Cotto has power and will learn from what Mosley did and probably use the same game plan. MargaCheato should look to fight Quintana, Alfonso Gomez, Delvin Rodriguez, or even Lovemore N'Dou to get a good fight under his belt before fighting an elite fight again.

I agree, we would have seen Cotto win on points.......this rematch has got to happen BEFORE we see perhaps Margarito getting kicked out the sport. If its proved Maragrito did use it in the Cotto fight, they need to pull the fight from records and let them go at it again this summer. Settle it!

You knwo though...now their will probably be a snitch in Maragritos camp, selling stories to anyone and everyone.

I personally think Margarito broke Cotto's nose in the 2nd rd with a (plaster like substance) and in return made it nearly impossible to win the fight with all the blood he had to swallow.

You have to think of the Cotto/Margarito fight like an RPG when you factor in Margarito's cheating. Imagine your level 20 Margarito character is equipped with his magic plaster gloves that cause 100+ HP damage. Now take your same Margarito and unequip those magical gloves of plaster and he only causes 10 HP of damage. Damaging and breaking down Miguel Cotto would take longer without the gloves. Cotto would've lasted longer and definitely boxed Margarito out of his shoes.
