    Fighter of the decade

    BOYS, with a year to go before the decade ends, who do you think should be fighter of the decade?

    HOPKINS- undisputed middleweight champion with 20 successful defenses, a schooling of oscar de la hoya, antonio tarver and kelly pavlik ...

    MAYWEATHER jr- superb boxing skills with incomparable defense... championships in five different weight classes and an undefeated record

    CALZAGHE- undisputed super middleweight champion (regardless of politics) and lineal light heavyweight champion who is also undefeated...

    PACQUIAO- a former flyweight champion who has a TKO win over a former middleweight titlist... championships in five different classes (regardless of politics)

    Skills wise Mayweather is the best fighter I have seen this decade. But thats my opinion.

    I dont see how anyone in their right mind could make a case for calzaghe being the fighter of the decade.

      Hopkins
      He has 10 defenses of his middleweight title in the 2000s, and beats Trinidad, De La Hoya, Tarver, Winky Wright, and Kelly Pavlik.

        True. I think to be fighter of the decade, you need a seriously good resume, which is why I think B-Hop or Pacquiao should be considered. I'm edging towards B-Hop at the moment, but we'll have to see at the end of this year how Pacquiao progresses. A win over Hatton at 140 would be very impressive and would open up a lot of possibilities if he shows power at the weight.

            Hopkins = 13-3

            Mayweather = 17-0

            Calzaghe = 19-0

            Pacquiao = 21-1-2

            Therefore Calzaghe is fighter of the decade due to most fights won in the 2000's without a loss.

              Definitely those are the candidates. About two or three years ago I think Floyd appeared to have it locked up, but he may need a big win or two this year to seal the deal. Otherwise, I think it's probably Pacquiao with Hopkins/Calzaghe very close behind.

                    B-hop lost twice to Jermain Taylor and fights so ugly it hurts to watch.
