chairman of the danish professional boxing federation Jesper D. Jensen has e-mailed danish website lionheart with this (my translation):

"... Through my 13 titlefights and 25 fights as WBA supervisor I'd like to comment on the things I pratice as supervisor:

1: At the rules meeting (typically after the weigh-in) you agree on time of taping and types of gloves. A second from each corner is invited to look on as the fists are being wrapped. Either the supervisor or another official (referee or judge) must be there at all time as the taping is being done. When the wrapping is over it's approved by all parties and the wrapping is signed by the supervisor.

2 : Before the fight the boxer gets the gloves (chosen at the rules meeting the day before), and the supervisor checks if new tape has been put on. After that the supervisor and a second from the corner checks that everything is done correctly. The taping on the gloves is then signed.

3: It's not allowed to tape directly on the hand or above the knuckles and the wrap must be stretchable.

I do not know what happened yesterday for obvious reasons, but I know this is how it's normally done."
