I never thought that at all. It's hard to look good agaisnt Mayorga. He's a wild fighter that forces you into akward exchanges at times. Those whoed that fight as a barometer for his future fights were reaching. Plus there was no doubt that Shane adjusted and kicked his ass late.
How do you see Mosley vs. Cotto 2 playing out?

Yeah, I agree with that, Shane was never going to look good in that fight, against Mayorga and at that weight.I never thought that at all. It's hard to look good agaisnt Mayorga. My point was that everyone goes a little OTT in the immediate aftermath of a fight.
Supposedly Margarito was unbeatable after the Cotto fight, even though you could see that he had limitations that the right fighter could expose, just maybe not Cotto himself.Comment

Had mosley winning the first fight by a point.
No doubt if the first fight was an old school 15 rounder that Mosley would have KO'd Cotto. I think Shane takes the rematch with an improved gameplan, out pointing Cotto or possibly stopping him.
Either way, Mosley in his prime would have destroyed Cotto as Cotto is not nearly as durable or as strong as Shane.Comment

Even Shane didn't have Shane winning. He said so pretty much after the fight and you see it in his demeanour.Had mosley winning the first fight by a point.

As for Shane winning a 15 rounder - if Hearns vs Leonard was 12 rounds, then Tommy wins.
Simple fact is, it was 12 rounds and Cotto fought his fight according to that number of rounds.Comment

mosley looked the worse he has in any fight against cotto ...i think ****m would develop a game plan to beat cotto ... i actually had shane winning the fight but it was a close fight ...Comment

cotto gets in that ass again the 2nd time - establishing himself as the class of the welters.
cotto's just a younger, more versatile fighter at this point who can do more.
did anyone notice that shane started clinching from the first round - that's ALL cotto needed to do to win that ****en fight; illegal hand wraps and all.Comment

Simple adjustment. Shane is just the smarter more experienced fighter. He did the same to negate some of Cotto's body punches.cotto gets in that ass again the 2nd time - establishing himself as the class of the welters.

he is the more experienced fighter no doubt about it - but smarter ... eh that might be a stretch - when you outbox and outspeed a guy whos supposed to do that to you, i.e. cotto - then you're the smarter fighter.
but the cats out of the bag on how to beat the tijuana tramposo's **** - there aren't that many tricks.
cotto stays on the back foot again and out boxes mosley to win the rematch.Comment
