i agree there's a certain amount of respect due to anyone that at least tries to make it as a pro. like stand up comedians- there's a level of respect for getting up there in front of a crowd and trying to make people laugh, regardless of how hacky and recycled the jokes are.

but people die in boxing. fighters with 1000x the skill of these guys end up severely damaged. the fact that someone with no experience whatsoever thinks they can make it as a pro is an insult to the sport. i've thrown the football around in the backyard. i'm not going to go try out for the new york giants based on that. obviously i wouldn't make the team if i did, and rightfully so.

add to that the internet personas and it's really just an insult to someone who has put in a lot of time and work as an amateur, and really all fight fans in general. it sucks logging on to a boxing website and seeing the page cluttered with this nonsense.
