Why would Bernard Hopkins of all people go with the "younger guy" in Diaz vs. Marquez?

Because he promotes that younger guy, who already is a huge ticket seller in a burgeoning boxing market of Houston, TX. HBO likes that younger guy and may even possibly try to make him one of the faces of the new generation of boxing. Hopkins is also Marquez' promoter, but it's pretty obvious that from a business standpoint Diaz has much more upside and Hopkins, like it or not, is now a businessman.
