Calling out does little other than to cause fans to get unnecessary hard-ons, as the real "calling out" is in negotiations and not an interview, but it at least can help hype a fight a bit. So whomever GBP thinks is a likely fight for Mosley in the future, he can mention him and build some hype.
Do you know who will do the in ring interview. Max Kellerman or Larry Merchant. If its Larry he does have enough pull with HBO to insist on a fight. Or reccomend it like he did Pacman De La Hoya. Look how great that ended up. Shane will not waste this moment on fake BS. He loses he is likely out of boxing. He wins he has at least 1 huge payday ahead of him. The post fight interview is always entertaining because of the call out. I hate it when after a great fight these fighters say I do the fighting in the ring and I don't care who is against me, My managers decides, etc. As a competitor you want to fight the best.

I can't believe that Larry Merchant didn't ask Sugar Shane what he wants to do next. That is part of the post fight interview. Did Larry forget because of his age Or did he not care. Sugar Shane told Espn he wants Cotto or the winner of Pac and Hatton. I personally wanted him to call out Mayweather Jr. That way we could see the fight we should have seen 5 years ago. Margarito fan at least your fighter didn't quit. That gains him mad props

Is boxing more interesting because of the Margarito loss?

This seems like a long time ago. And a win over Floyd will prove everything.
