Boxing going bankrupt?? Boxing needs national TV spots

The sport is defintely hurting because of not having any national TV spots. Back when there were fights on NBC/ABC and fighters were fighting on national TV they made money off those TV spots and fighters got there exposure. Without national TV and with only big name promotional companies like Golden Boy and Top Rank ruling the sport alot of promoters and public relation people are out of jobs. This means less work for up and coming boxers unless they sign with these bigger companies that is if these bigger companies have an interest in them in the first place. PPV and high ticket prices make it hard for the average fan myself included to take my son or even myself to most of these events. I don't know where things are going to end up but if boxing wants to save it self from the soup line they need to get back on national TV or maybe get their own network like NFL and MLB. If they can get their own network and broadcast some decent names and get a reguliar show going where boxing becomes feature event again. they need more attention payed to it on sports center and in the news. it is what it is....Lefty

I agree i would love to see a boxing network like the NFL or MLB. they would talk about upcoming fights and also show come classic fights. i think more people would start to watch boxing. not alot of people want to read the internet for all things boxing when you have ESPN showing more football than any sport combined. so a boxing network i think would really start sparking the intrests of more people.

Boxing's survived for over 10 years without the help of NBC, CBS, or ABC

The PPVs make up for the money they made off ABC during the Wide World of Sports era and have had bigger fights since then.

It would be great to have them on National TV again, but that won't be the demise of Boxing if there is one. Leave that blame to the promoters.
