i wasnt comparing the 2 either, i was pointing out why that plan prolly wont work against Manny...to sum it up Ricky gets hit too much and Pacquiao can react to openings too quick, has power and isnt afraid to throw.

Only chance Hatton has relly is if he can get Manny on the ropes early, and land a big shot to the body, so manny isnt elusive anymore. If he can do that ( thats a big big IF) he chan have more chances of doing that again while the fight goes on

        1. Take four to give one - Hatton can't avoid Pacquiao's punches all the time. Manny is one of the fastest hands, if not the fastest, in boxing. For every 1 punch that Hatton would give, he should not be afraid to receive 4 power punches back.

        2. Don't underestimate Pacquiao power punches - Remember that out of 53 fights of Pacquiao, 36 has ended in KO. That's 7 out of 10 knockout power.

        3. Don't spend all your power punch energy in the first few rounds - Pacquiao hasn't been knocked out by good to great fighters for almost a decade, so don't expect him to go down in the first few rounds.

        4. Don't wait for Pacquiao to get tired - Pacquiao has a reputation of having freakish stamina reservoir. The man is a throwback to an era where rounds are more than a dozen.

        5. Don't expect Pacquiao's speed to diminish due to weight - Remember that since 2004, Pacquiao is used to entering the ring as essentially a welterweight (146 lbs. during his 1st Marquez fight).

        6. Don't overrelly on hugging - Pacquiao hands are blistering fast during inside exchanges. Manny also prove over and over again, that he has the quick reflex to move his head away from uppercuts after an inside exchange.

        7. Don't box technically with Pacquiao - Only technical masters can pull it off (e.g. Marquez). Speed, timing and accuracy are the bread and butter of Pacquiao. His rhythmn don't have a regular pattern, making it hard to predict and time.

        8. Don't rely solely on blocking the punches with gloves - Pacquiao has long added to his offensive arsenal fake jabs, up and down feints, with 3 or 4 punch fast combos from different angles. Manny smart fast footwork also ensure of him having high percentage of accurate punches landing when faced with gloves blockage alone.

        9. Don't follow Pacquiao in the ring without punching - Pacquiao moves in and out, side to side, throwing trajectory angle power punches while moving at an unpredictable direction at an uncanny speed.

        10. Don't block Pacquiao's way without head movement - Fighters who stood directly in front like a statue with the intent of cutting off Pacquiao's movement has received the worst beating (e.g. Diaz).
hatton's not going to be able to get past "#1". Four hard shots and he's stunned, four more and he's down and out.

        Thank you, come again.

Unless you're suggesting that the wisest strategy for Ricky would be to stand still in the middle of the ring, De La Hoya style.

And the lead lefts will probably not have much individual effect. Manny does not hit as hard as Kostya Tszyu.
I agree on Hatton is naturally bigger than Pac but as you say Manny is shorter than i don't think so... I doubt Manny got longer reach than Hatton...

I agree on Manny does not hit as hard as Kostya but the punching ratio/Volume of punches Pacman is way higher than Kostya... Not to discredit Hatton but the Kostya he fought is not the Kostya we know...

          Skill/Ability/Talent/Level i don't think Tszyu tops Manny...

Utter bull****. Tszyu was number 3 p4p, number one in the division and was regarded as unbeatable by most in the fight game. Besides which even if he was washed up he still retained his power and Hatton walked onto several straight right hands with no ill effects, and Tszyu's power was still very much in evidence. Unless you are suggesting that Pacquiao hits harder than Kostya Tszyu, in which case carry on, you're making my case for me.

hatton's only chance at winning is to make it a bore/clinch fest ala tzuyu.
Wait, WHAT!? Hatton - Tszyu was a bore fest? Holy **** pal, stop watching boxing!

Hatton isnt known for great tactics
Floyd Mayweather Jr isn't known for his defence. That is if you know nothing about Floyd Mayweather. Like you clearly know nothing about Hatton.

I was responding to the comment that Ricky wouldn't be able to handle Manny's straight lefts. Which is patently untrue.

What Hatton needs to do is tighten up his defense, get on the inside, bully Manny and go to the body like there is no tomorrow.
Pacquiao is a natural slugger. Inside fighting is his natural instinct, so what I'm saying is Hatton shouldn't be afraid to take punches to give punches, in order to be effective inside.

Only way he wins is to get into Pac's chest and stay there. Lean on him to get him tired, muscle him around, and hammer in some body shots. If he can do that over a period of rds, I think he could stop Pac, but I don't think he will.
