Bute was collapsed in the corner for an age. The referee had no control of the situation as well as obviously having a significant amount of money on Bute.

Why wasn't the ringside count started when Bute went down and then why didn't the referee pick it up after he told Andrade to get in the corner?

    Pure corruption.

Now that Larsen has pulled out, they need to get Dibella back on the phone... otherwise we are looking at Bute/Lacy and probably Taylor/Green...

One could say that this is the right fighters but the wrong match-ups.

Bute-Taylor and Lacy-Green would make much more sense (from a fan perspective at least).

1- Bute was up after 7-8 seconds it doesn't matter if the count was long or not.

2- Andrade did leave the neutral corner and walked halfway across the ring. According to the rules the ref has to stop the count and order andrade back to his corner.

3- The round/fight was over. Bute went down with only 3 seconds left. According to the rules. All he needed to do to win was to get up with his gloves clear off the canvas. That's it. He didn't need to be able to continue or prove that he was in shape to continue. The fight was over as soon as the 8 count was over.

Finally, I do agree a rematch is in order because of the controversial nature of the 12th round. That rematch will take place this summer if both Bute and Andrade win their next fight.

Indeed, these guys make it as it was something out of the rules or something. It wasn't.It was a very dirty fight in which both comitted fouls.
              Can't wait for the rematch.

I'm not sure what fight you watched but:

1- The ref did pick up the count from the official count keeper at ring side.

2- The ref did make the mistake of counting the number 6 twice. He counted from 1 to 6 then stopped to tell Andrade to go back to his corner after he walkd halfway across the ring. Bute was already up at that point. When Andrade finally went back to his corner the ref started back at the count of 6 which was a mistake but was irrelevant at that point.

                  lol.....

****** fight for Lacy. He needs to stay away from these slick fellas. Although he could chase him around all night and possibly get lucky and score a KO like Andrade almost did. Bute is a ****ing **** but he's a good slick boxer.
