Keith Hughes "Holding is for the UFC and college wrestling.”

What do you all think of this quote from the referee in the Berto-Collazo fight?

There is a time and a place for holding. Collazo totally exposed Berto's complete lack of an inside game. Often Berto would just try and hold Collazo in this weird way with his arms sticking right out with Collazo trying to work the hooks/uppercuts on the inside. Here, Berto was usually not giving anything back, waiting for the referee to break them up and move it to the outside again.

Sometimes Collazo was so confused by this total lack of work on the inside by Berto and he stopped punching and both fighters were kind of like 'wtf is going on'.

Berto needs to seriously pick up his inside work instead of just trying to do his holding everytime. If he did that against Margarito he wouldn't last 1 round and that is not Joke.

Berto is pretty bad on the inside but I actually think Wlad may be worse but Wlad is way better at holding than Berto is.
      Berto has bad holding tactics.

The irritating thing about Berto is he throws a punch that lands then holds.
      Throw combos dude. jesus.

If you need to hold to survive then thats ok, other then that I agree with that referee.

I agree with him. The only time a boxer should hold is to avoid a knockdown, or try to recover from a punch.

Overt holding has no place in boxing. (Ricky Hatton, I'm looking your way.......)

Because Collazo was beating him on the inside could've contributed as well.

Exactly. Andre wasn't worn out from throwing, he was worn out because Collazo wore him out by ripping him to the body consistently all night.
