joe calzaghe.. best southpaw jab ever?

everything he throws is from the jab, he sets up all his combinations from his fast solid left jab, it dominated the fight for him against one of the best jabbers in the world today mikkel kessler and won him the fight against hopkins. he uses his jab to measure distance and decide his fighting range against different fighters, is it the best southpaw jab ever?

Thinking for less than 5 seconds, I came up with Wright and Whitaker having better jabs from the southpaw stance.

Winky Wright has a better southpaw jab.

I think Hagler had a better southpaw jab as well and today Dawson probably has a better jab than Calzaghe. Calzaghe has a very good jab but it isn't great.

Cory Spinks has a damn good jab as well.

          Casamayor, Tarver...

All of those guys are actually in the running for having a better jab IMO.

Calzaghe has a good jab but not the best, not even now. Whitaker had a great great jab.

Calzaghe has never struck me as a great jabber. That said, it's more than useful - like all parts of his game (barring power).

The thing that sets him aside from other fighters is what's between his ears and under his ribcage. He knows when to use the right tool at the right time. And when things get tough he has the guts to ride out the storm.

                Great fighter.

I agree, but he adapted to Kessler by using his jab. So you can't exclude that he has a pretty good jab.

Not even close but it's a good weapon for him whenever he decides to use it, which isn't often.
