All you can do in terms of ratin fighters before your time is to look at videos and respected opinions. I obviously wasn't around when SRR was the man, but he left a strong enuf impression that most still consider him the best ever. I believe it. No easy answers to this thread.

Not forgotten but two overlooked fighters from the past would be Salvador Sanchez and Ricardo Lopez, though Lopez gets a lot more respect due to longevity.

I remember Donald Curry having a ton of hype around him...people thought he was unbeatable.

cant blame them. have you seen that one lightning left hook he knocked Milton McCrory out with? one of quickest, most devastating left hooks Ive ever seen.
but then he ran into Honeygan. still, Curry did a hell of a lot in his career. some of his wins are really impressive.

              very forgotten fighter.

also, Kennedy McKinney was very hyped up as a fighter early in his career. he had a lot of title defences, and Ring Magazine expected him to be a top 5 super bantamweight of all time I believe. his fight with Barrera was an amazing war, should have gotten fight of the year over Holyfield-Tyson, this was a raw, powerhouse Barrera too. I think it was the first HBO BAD show ever.

Ill go ahead and mention Michael Spinks too. he isnt exactly forgotten, but hes only remembered for one thing. which is a shame, because hes one of the best Light Heavyweights ever and was the first man to beat Larry Holmes. hell of a career until that fight against Tyson.

Right.... And as a decent Sanchez fan, I haven't even heard of this movie. Sounds like it's getting all the publicity it deserves.
