I disagree, Tarver had movement... everytime he threw a combination he would turn woods and back out perfectly.. Lets not lose sight of the entire reason of this thread.

Tarver was 39 years old in that performance.

I was talking about movement under pressure, it's a totally different thing when you can move how you want to when you want to, Tarver had trouble dealing with Johnson's pressure and couldn't move out of the way 3 years prior, he wouldn't have been able to deal with sustained pressure from Woods IMO, but Woods didn't fight, he went into a shell.

And Tarver was never at his best against pressure fighters, Johnson gave him all he could handle, Harding beat him with sustained educated pressure, Jones had his best moments when he was pressuring Tarver with his in and out movements, Muriqi gave him trouble with pressure etc.

Fair enough... my point is Tarver is 39 years old.. he could have just bummed his way through 12 rounds, being Woods didnt really force the fight... but he didnt... he let his hands go the entire fight..

Don't get me wrong, it was a good performance from Tarver but I think it was due more to what Woods didn't do than what Tarver did do. And he can still let his hands go, he showed that against Dawson, he was letting his hands go there as well, his legs just aren't fresh anymore is what I'm saying.

Jones pretty much said the same thing before Tarver fought Woods, Tarver couldn't deal with pressure anymore etc.

Just really acknowledging his age and what he was doing in the ring was really impressive... he was really letting his hands go...

I think the fact that only having 30 pro fights definitely has something to do with helping his natural wear and tear... but still.. he's 39.
Could have something to do w/Woods being 36 and just not really a great fighter? It's easy to let your hands go when you are fighting someone who's speed does intimidate you.

He was impressive. I'll agree with you there. I just watched some of it last night.
