khan is following brilliantly in calzaghe's career path. fighting old and shot fighters but is barrera old and shot enough for khan? or did he miscalculate like calzaghe did against hopkins. but luckily joe recalibrated against jones to fool some fans.

Yes Khan has fought terrible opposition but he is taking a step up in fighting Barrera and all the power to him. For Calzaghe, he was fighting older past their prime fighters when he should have been fighting the younger fighters ( this is mainly with respect to the Jones fight) to cement his legacy. For Khan he hasn't reached the elite level of the sport and is taking a substantial risk in fighting a more experienced guy like many young fighters do to establish themselves in the sport ( Dawson vs Tarver and Johnson, Trinidad and Oscar against Whitaker etc). These two circumstances are completely different.
