EXLUSIVE INTERVIEW: ANDRE BERTO by M. Mood

    EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: ANDRE BERTO
    By Mellow Mood

MM: What's the latest and greatest with Andre Berto? "I'm on my way to the gym right now, I'm going to get these last few days of work in. I'm feeling good. It's been a great training camp, and you can expect to see a show on Saturday night."

MM: Is Collazo going the distance?

Andre Berto: Hey, you're going to have to wait and see. Hopefully, we can have an early night, but you know. We're ready to go all twelve.

MM: How much of a step up is Collazo from Stevie Forbes? Is Collazo the tougest opposition you've faced?

AB: Yes, definitely. Fighting a southpaw in general is always difficult, and fighting a quick southpaw makes it a little tougher. Just like my last fight, I show people that I can adapt quickly, so it's going to be a good one.

MM: What does a victory over Collazo mean to you?

AB: A victory against Collazo means that there are more big fights out there for me in 2009. This is my year to come out and give the people want they want to see.

MM: Who do you like for Mosley-Margarito?

AB: It's up in the air for me. It just depends on who comes to fight their fight. I know a lot of people think it will be Margarito by a big margin, but at the same time, I believe that styles make fights. I believe that Margarito's style is a little better for Mosley than it was for Cotto. So, it's going to be one to watch. No prediction.

MM: How many times will you fight this year?

AB: It looks like I'm already penciled in for three or four times for this year.

MM: What are your goals for 2009?

AB: My goals are to stay undefeated, and if I can, to capture the other two belts. Another goal of mine is to become a household name.

MM: Does it bother you that, of the welterweight champions out there, you're considered the baby of the bunch?

MM: Yeah, definitely I am the baby. I'm the youngest one in the group, I'm the cutest one in the group, I am who I am, baby. I did just come out of the 2004 Olympic Games.

MM: Are you concerned that Collazo's slick southpaw style could offset your aggressiveness and cause problems?

AB: No, a lot of people know I can **** and be aggressive, but they also know I can box well. I believe that any way he wants to do it, if he wants to **** out or box, I'll be ready. I had tremendous sparring, I had a number of good southpaws come out and work. From international Cubans, to national champions, to the agressive strong professionals. I had a whole bunch of different looks.

    MM: Closing thoughts.

AB: 2009 is going to be a big year, hopefully we're going to open it up with a ****. Stay tuned, in a couple of days on the 17th, it's going to be one to watch.

    MM: 2ND CLOSING THOUGHTS...

I LIKE U G... BUT I'LL BET FOR THE UPSET... GOOD LUCK .. and thanks for being with us here @ boxingscene.com !!!!
