Actually, whether or not you feel that De La Hoya was 'washed up' or not has nothing to do with why a fight with him is an almost automatic shot up to superstardom.

Look at Floyd. He was a virtual nobody to casual fans, up until he fought Oscar.

He is only P4P #1 cause Mayweather retired.
This was arguable even before Pacquiao's destruction of De La Hoya, and questionable after.

60/40? No way... there fighting at a weight class that Hatton is unbeaten in... for Hattons belt, and Hatton is fighting the Pound for Pound king. Both are MASSIVE draws at the moment... Hatton will bring in loads of UK buys, and Pacman will bring in loads of Phillipeno buys... they will both generate loads of money and help promote the fight just as much as others so no doubt in my mind it should be 50/50.

I like Pacquiao, I think he is a great fighter... I think he could beat Hatton, but you saying 60/40 is fair just shows how biased you actually are. Learn a little bit about other fighters apart from Pacman and you will learn that he is not the only big draw that can generate money.
Although I don't agree with the holdup for this fight, I don't think that a 60/40 split is totally unfair for Pacquiao.

Not only does he bring in the Filipino fans, but he brings in many non-Filipino fans in as well, many from the US. His massive popularity here in the States is based on his style and entertainment value.

Ricky's huge support base for the most part is limited to his countrymen.

Reason being of him to be the P4P king is not because of mayweather retiring.. He did more than that!! he killed de la hoya to submission even mayweather cant do and PBF and DLH are close to be in the same class, Pac had to jump 2 classes to fight DLH. Another reason him being the king he is the most demand fighter right now, everyone wants him, Why? hes the most exciting fighter and people love that! Im sure Pac doesnt care if he doesnt fight Hatton, any of his fight will be a draw... feel me...

I am not taking anything from Pacquiao... I think he fought fantastically but I just think people are getting too worked up about it because you must admit he wasn't great that night, nevertheless Pac fought fantastically... and if you read the rest of what I said those are the points of were I think it should be 50/50 which is the fairest option. Manny brings Philly's, Ricky brings Brits and they both generate a lot of money, and don't give the the bull**** that Manny only bring in US fans because Ricky does too... that is why it is the most talked about fight at the moment, 50/50 is fair... and for various reasons.

You are giving Manny good points but you haven't gave Hatton any good points... both promote the fight well, both bring in a lot of cash... they are fighting for Hattons belt at his undefeated weight... and Manny is P4P#1... all equals to each other so 50/50 is fair.

If it was Ricky fighting for Pacs belt, at his best weight when Pac was P4P#1 (hypothetically)... then 60/40 would be fair, but that is not the case... both have good arguments which evens it out to make 50/50 fair.
