Pacquiao Vs Hatton...Class Warfare

Let's get this straight. Ricky Hatton did not grow up in Poverty. He wasn't poor but wasn't rich. He grew up a normal life, my guestimation Middle Class. His father owned bars and owns a carpet business from the money he made as a PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLER. There goes that Ricky was poor arguement. Here is an excerpt of Ricky's life from the telegraph.co.uk : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/oth...greatness.html
When Ricky was born, Carol and Ray were married, and lived in the Peak District village of Hayfield, near Glossop. Ray was a professional footballer with Manchester City between 1966-71 before he suffered an achilles tendon injury.
Ricky followed his father as a youngster, onto the books of Manchester City's School of Excellence, although he first began kick-boxing at the age of 10. Bruce Lee was his hero then. However, with short legs and arms, he was never going to be a world-beater. He switched to boxing. Not a bad move as it turns out. In his teens, Hatton gained his England vest at age-group level, won every amateur title available to him, and won a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships.
"We didn't know he was that talented, we were just doing what parents normally do," Ray recalls. Carol remembers that changing when people began whispering about him at ringside. "'Here's that lad, watch this,' we'd hear, or someone would say they'd come up from London to Manchester to see him box. He was a little lad."
When Ricky was finishing his studies at Hattersley high school, his father was starting his own carpet business, 'R' Carpets, in Gorton, having given up running a succession of pubs. Richard went to work for Ray for two years as a carpet-fitter. "He was crap," says Carol. Ricky was terrible with money, too. Today, all purses earned are paid to Punch Promotions, a company run by his father. Ray pays himself £1 a year as the company directorComment
