This is a good move for boxing. Hopkins deserves the spotlight for one last farewell fight. The man has a career and legacy that are all his own. But 2009 is his year to go, his style is just not exciting. I'll definately tune in for his last fight. The last Hopkins fight I watched was the Taylor rematch. After that, I just couldn't sit through 12 rounds of B Hop. Valuev-Holyfield was easier for me to endure. Best of luck to the living legend in his last outing.

Too bad he ain't interested in Chad. I think he'd beat the brakes off Dawson.

Seems like he needs to add more into his co shared company (Golden Boy Promotions)
I think it's more personal (avenging his defeat) then legacy.

Truthfully, there should be a line of guys waiting to fight Bhop. He is a future HOF, one of the top-20 All-time, Top 5 P4P, gets TV dates and is 43 years old. The young LHW's are not exciting, have no name, and obviously in no rush fight him. If Dawson was a money fight and available, I am sure Bhop would fight him. But his is neither. Hop may need to move up to Cruiserweight to get a meaningful fight; but it will not get him big bucks.

You didn't watch the Tarver or Pavlik fights? Classic performances.

calzaghe better stop being a *****, he doesnt want to fight hopkins, froch, dawson, taylor, pavlik but yet he doesnt retire. the rematch with hopkins has to happen, the first one was a close fight that many reporters(even the ones that dont like bhop) felt he won. he is hiding behind that lame "hopkins is a racist and i dont like him" excuse, i mean does he wanna be his friend in order to fight him. true boxing fans know he is not a legend, he is no hall of famer, 2 years ago nobody knew who da hell he was, then he barely beats bhop then destroys jones(who hasnt been the same since the tarver 2 fight) and of all the sudden hes a legend, come on.

hopkins has agreed to go to wales for the rematch!! thats big, cuz over there all calzaghe has to do is last 12 rounds and he wins cuz theres no way in hell hopkins get a decision over there. joe knows that the only thing he has going for him is that "0" on his record, bhop has the eraser for that, he needs to really stop whining and sign the execution papers.

to me, weather he gets the fight or not, hopkins has cemented his name as one of the greatest ever a long time ago, and easily the beast boxer of this era. calzaghe has a long way to go to be in that conversation, and i dont think he ever will be cuz its not like hes young, hes talkin about retirement as well, he may be a legend in wales, but not in the USA, and thats the only thing that matters

I've seen the highlights. I would go back and watch Pavlik I think if HBO weren't so guared over it. I didn't record it and its hard to find. I saw all I needed to of the Tarver fight. The knockdown had me excited... then it faded into single punches and clinching. I turned it off. Maybe I missed out on a really great fight, but I'm a sucker for combination punching.
