How important is it for a fighter to close the show

How important is it for a fighter to close the show ? for me its one of the things the separates the good from the great, because you are putting yourself in arms way, but a true champion will show what a great champ he is by biting down and putting a stamp on his win.

That is what some of todays fighters lack imo. I dont think i can say ive ever seen Mayweather try and close the show, instead he carries fighters like Henry Bruseles longer than they should he be in the ring with him and he runs from Baldy,Castillo 2.

I dont think anyone expects Mayweather to KO Baldy, but he did'nt even try to impose himself on Baldy once.

Roy Jones has always been very timid fighter too allthough you could say he was more of a closer than Floyd.

I think it's important. It's definitely more entertaining. Some fighters just don't do that too much though. It's just their style.

Nothing is worse than a fighter getting on his bicycle after gaining enough headway on the cards... (DLH-Trinidad). I lost some respect for Cotto against Mosley when he started running the last 2 or 3 rounds.

To answer your question to me the name of the game is winning. It doesn't matter if you close the show or not like Raiders owner Al Davis said "JUST WIN" You have to be mindful of things like that. Ok say a fighter is sweeping the fight tries to so called close the show and gets caught on the button and goes out. Is that smart or ******? What will the fans and media say? Most will say he was ****** for trying to close the show when he had the fight won. They won't report he lost giving a valiant effort in trying to close the show. In all competitive sports the **** boils down to wins and losses. As long as you don't cheat I don't care how a person wins just f^cking win.

I guess you just said f^ck off to early part of PBF career when he closed the show many of nights. I guess it matters not to anybody that PBF said he hurt his hand mid-fight against Baldomir.

Boxers have the careers they have because of the fans I think its only a matter of giving the fans what they deserve

Win first, worry about how aestheticly pleasing you are later, being a good finisher doesn't mean your greater than someone who is not otherwise guys like RJJ, Sweet Pea and PBF wouldn't have the respect they got throughout their career, all were P4p #1 at one point
