For me its the intricacies people hardly ever talk about. The little things that go on in a fight that most people miss, but change the outcome of a fight. Subtle adjustments made by fighters, different looks from round to round, adapting in the middle of a fight, the ebb and flow as stamina comes into play, all these things is what makes boxing a great sport to me.
For me, it's the idea that two fighters are up against eachother, using every ounce of their being to defeat the other man. It's the most direct, unfiltered version of competition. And at the same time, there are many intricacies beneath the surface. Boxing is a sport that can be looked at in so many different lights. I love that.
Watching a dazzling round of fisticuffs for entertainment between 2 brown foreigners whilst I throw quarters into the ring always makes for a good night.
The only intriguing thing is which one will end up and a dishwasher within a few weeks ole' chap.
