Surprisingly David Haye has been receiving some flack for wanting to fight the best and it is looking ever more likely that this wish is going to materialize. The argument being that Haye hasn't done enough in the Heavyweight division.
Haye unified the cruiserweight division, beating the number one man in the division in doing so. Despite the division being less equipped with talent than other divisions, he achieved pretty much all he could; yes he could of fought Cunningham but he has just suffered a loss.
With regards to this, I'd just like to mention fights in the past where the fighter moving up in weight has done enough in his own division to get a shot at the champion in the higher weight class without too many complaints. Fights that come to mind are Pacquiao vs Diaz, Jones vs Toney, Marquez vs Barrera, Marquez vs Casamayor, Calzaghe vs Hopkins and even Hopkins vs Tarver ( and he was coming off two losses).
I guess Haye's situation is pretty similar but he is getting a lot criticism for it....
