    Ward-Buchanan

It looks like Andre Ward will be fighting Henry "Sugar Poo" Buchanan on the Tachi Palace and Casino probably on ShoBox. It's not the type of fight I was hoping he'd get, but with HBO and Showtime Championship Boxing booked at least he was able to stay active and on a decent sized stage.

Sugar Poo isn't a bad fighter. I'd even go so far as to say that outside of Jerson Ravelo he's the next best fighter Ward has fought. He's got a tricky style and may even make Ward go the distance. That said, Ward might be right up there with Taylor and Kessler in terms of talent right now. He need fights that will push him toward the next level so that he can get the fights that mean something and a fight with Buchanan doesn't really get him much closer. THough it may get him a fight with the Allan Greens, Sakio Bika or Fulgencio Zunigas of the world, which would be a step in the right direction.

This isn't a terrible fight, but Ward fighting someone like Bika or Green would interest me a lot more. It just seems like Ward has been a "young prospect" forever. Time to step up already.

ward is talented but i think andre dirrell is the better prospect trust me with the right motivation he could be something. they need to fight to settle this but even though ward got the gold in athens i think dirrell has the better pro style. i think a fight between them with there future on the line would be a real dog fight.

I think this fight is more along the lines of a stay busy fight for Ward as he hopes to get one of the contenders or champions to fight him. I would love to see Ward in against pretty much anybody at 168. The only names I'm a little skeptical of him against at 168 are Kessler and Taylor. Beyond that I think he could beat the rest of them pretty easily even without a whole lot of experience. But you're right, he needs a big fight very soon.

They're both going to win titles and I really don't see how they won't fight down the lines. This fight is even more obvious than Taylor-Lacy was. I just hope they don't let it sit too long. I say by late 2010 they'll both be young undefeated champs in their primes looking for a superfight. That's when they should fight.
