I was ringside at his debut and I watched him KO Paul Hanlon in the first round at Cardiff Arms Park on the undercard of the 1993 Lewis vs Bruno fight.

A friend of mine is Bruno's nephew, and he was able to take a friend from school to go watch the fight with him, and knowing I already had an interest in boxing, he asked me if I wanted to go.

It was the first live boxing match I had ever seen (we got there a little bit late and missed the first fight on the card), and after watching the ease with which he dealt with Hanlon I have been a devoted lifelong fan of Joe Calzaghe ever since.

Since then I have seen EVERY SINGLE ONE of Joe's fights, either live or on live TV.

I think that gives me the right to say that my hero has in fact never lost to anyone.
