I'm not sure about you guys but it seems like many ppl have different views on how the list should be compiled. I for one believe that p4p stands for exactly what it says. It means if all fighters were to theoretically fight at an equal weight, who would be the most dominant. Whereas others list p4p lists on a "what have you done lately?" status.
I see some lists where they list pacquaio about 3-5 spaces above jmm but as we all saw in the fight, both fighters were almost equal as seen with the draw decision. Same goes with a fighter like corrales. He enters the p4p lists after some good wins over high quality fighters. Yet in some discussions most feel that a fight with castillo the fight would be a 50/50 pick'em fight. However, castillo's name is hardly mentioned in any of the p4p lists.
Another thing that bothers me is how some fighters aren't even considered the best fighters of their division and yet are mentioned in the p4p lists. For example james toney. In a fight vs Klit, most sports betting would put klit as favourite basically echoing the public perception that klit would beat toney. Yet toney, who isn't considered the best in his division makes most ppl's top 10.
And the final point is, some posters would pick a fighter like trinidad over spinks, yet when they do their p4p lists, most of the posters have spinks above trinidad. That thought rationale is contradicting. Most lists appear to be "what have you done for me lately" lists. So yeh, i've done my venting and lets hear some thoughts about it. Here's mine btw
