Darling Jiminez is the best guy he beat, and he beat him soundly so it will take a top notch guy to get to him but then again he was off for more then a year prior to that fight and Gamboa is not a good matchup after a very long layoff.

He is fun to watch though, but I have not seen him improve one little bit. He is the exact same as he was 8 fights ago, same flaws, same positives. He is who he is, and people should not really expect him to change or improve much (infact he will probably only get worse).

He is got good defensive moves, but there is no rhyme or reason to when he does them. He just kind of throws them all in there for no particular reason, instead of concentrating on the ones that are more effective.

Though has good footwork, head movement, and reflexes, which should make for a good defensive fighter, as I said before he goes in there with no real defensive strategy, and just makes it up as he goes along. This leads to him sometimes running right into shots.

He is susceptable to flash knockdowns, but he does have an amazing ability to recover quickly.

He often fights with his hands down at his sides. Not good

Also as the fight wears on he seems to get lazier and lazier with his defense and he gets hit with alot more shots.

The man has the tools for a great defense, but the some of the parts don't add up to one for him. I think a big part of it is his ****y attitude, in that he probably thinks he is invincible.

Maybe Gamboa is weight drained? Seeing Gamboa get knocked down every fight, or Khan getting wobbled, kTFO, Cotto getting wobbled, pumpled to death same thing. Another good boxer with a shaky chin, what I see in Gamboa. He will be KTFO like Cotto, but hes still good.

Cotto got beat up not KTFO, theres a difference. Cotto havent even gone down by a punch his entire career. He maybe have gotten rocked a couple of times but he is no chinny guy. He took bombs from Torres beaing weight drained and he took some monster shots from Margarito. Saying Cotto is chinny absurd!

No its not people had the same reaction to Cotto, oh hes gonna get KTFO, next thing you know some 157 weighing huge Mexican biker comes along, tosses him from rope to rope, gives him a good beating and before he could get wobbled or knocked out he takes a knee. Because Margarito wasnt throwing knockout punches but was throwing punches in bunches while Cotto layed on the ropes trying to be Mayweather, he is or was very chinny. If he can unchin himself who says that Gamboa cant by the time he meets somebody like Juanma.

I actually think Gamboa might be slightly weight drained while we're on the subject. His people did move him down a class a few fights ago and he hasn't looked like the same little ball of fury that he was at junior lightweight, though his offense still has obviously been good.

And to the thread maker... duh. That is what makes him so damn loveable. He's going to destroy or be destroyed. That is awesome. If every fighter had his mentality we'd have a fight of the year every night.
