Not sure? I think they did it for safety reasons, but not sure when they stopped them. Good question mangler.

The last 15 round fight was Jose Alfredo Flores vs Eric Holland in 1997 for the little known WBB middleweight title.
The official reason for the switch to 12 round fights was that it is supposedly safer for the fighters but Ray Mancini has said there has been no medical proof of it. And I think it's mainly for the networks to schedule a broadcast more conveniently.Comment
